Delphi Academy Math Houses

Today I walked in to school, looked down the hallway and saw the greatest set of projects! Ms. Trish's math class, a group of students no older than 7, put together the most fantastic constructions.

They were asked to construct a home or a building of some sort and then calculate out the area, perimeter, etc. of their project. These constructions were not only eye catching, but also very creative and very well constructed.

The most impressive thing about these projects were that just by glancing at the buildings and the math work that went along with them, you can tell that our students are really getting it. They are directly applying the math they are learning. Math no longer is just a series of numbers; it becomes something real that you can see and touch and USE.

I've included some pictures of a few projects so you can see for yourself.

Delphi Students Visit the Science Museum

Yesterday our Middle and Elementary school students visited the Science Museum in Boston. They went to the butterfly garden, saw many examples of simple machines (which directly related to a course most of them have recently done), and stopped in all the exhibits.
Here are some photos of the day's adventures.
