Delphi Academy Bike-A-Thon

This year's annual Bike-A-Thon was a success! We raised over $20,000 in donations for our new science lab! Our students rode as much as 21 miles on Saturday! Below are some photos of parents and students at Borderland State Park.

Delphi Students Visit Park Plaza Hotel for Tea Time!

Yesterday I hopped onto a field trip with our Elementary and Middle School students. They were heading into Boston for High Tea at the Park Plaza Hotel to practice their manners and tea time etiquette.

The idea of bringing Elementary and Middle School students to a fancy hotel for tea, at first put me on the edge of my seat, but when I arrived and saw how well mannered our students were, I was very impressed!

They were all seated nicely with their napkins on their laps, using a fork and knife to eat a scones and finger sandwiches, paying attention to their hostess talking to them about the different teas they were drinking. Everyone of the students was so perfectly behaved and well mannered, I don't know who wouldn't have been impressed by this magnificent display!

The students were not only getting educated on the flavors of the teas they were drinking, but they were learning about their histories. The students got the opportunity to drink a cup of the same tea which was dumped into the harbor during the Boston Tea Party; they all found this very interesting.

The Hotel was beautiful and very welcoming to our students. The food was exquisite and the tea was divine!

Delphi Academy Science Lab

I walked into the lab today to find the most exciting projects going on.

There was a group of students learning about light bulbs, switches and batteries; they were re-wiring different things to see how the electrical current passed through.

There was a separate group of students learning about  microscope basics; they were finding different organisms through the microscope, they were staining slides to see different things, etc.

There was a group learning about fossils, and exploring different ways to make their own.

The most exciting thing going on in there today was the group of students learning about dissection. Today was the day they got to start exploring the body of a frog. Ah!

Funny Hat Day at Delphi Academy

Today was Fun Friday at Delphi! Once a month we have a Fun Friday with an unusual, but very fun theme! This month's Fun Friday was "Funny Hat Day". All the Lower School students dawned the most exciting and interesting hats they could find. Here are a few great shots from today!

Delphi Academy Student in the Lucky Ten Ensemble

Delphi Academy student, Daniel Ronkin recently won a ballroom dancing competition. Competing against people of all ages, at the   age of 13 Daniel won first place in 11 of 12 dances, ranging from the Rumba to the Jive; he won second place in the twelfth dance. Only starting his dance classes last September, Daniel is already a Silver Level dancer who has competed in three different competitions.

Daniel is also part of a renowned vocal group called the Lucky Ten Ensemble. He has participated in singing competitions all over the world, including competitions in the Caribbean and Russia. He’s been with the Lucky Ten for four years, each year going to Carnegie Hall to compete in the Golden Voices competition. In 2009 they won first place! He will be returning to Carnegie Hall February 19^th to perform a very famous German song called Papageno. He is currently preparing for a May performance of The Marriage of Figaro. Daniel is not only a dedicated artist, but also a dedicated student.
